MESTREÂ JOAO COPPA
Joao Coppa (1930-2020) was a Brazilian artist and cartoonist whose work was inspired by science fiction, military technology, and future civilizations. Born to Italian immigrants in Sao Paulo, Coppa developed a fascination with war and the Spitfire from an early age, which later informed his art. He studied with renowned artists such as Di Cavalcante and Portinare and became a professional cartoonist whose work appeared in political and satirical newspapers such as "O Pasquin" in Rio de Janeiro.
Coppa's art was heavily influenced by science fiction writers such as Isaac Asimov, and he frequently depicted futuristic space travel and multiplanetary military craft in his work. His art was marked by a sense of wonder and imagination that captured the possibilities of a future where humanity had mastered space travel. Coppa also had a love for Ibiza and London, which no doubt inspired some of his artwork.
