Polly Coppa Boreham is a multimedia artist, DJ, and music curator with family roots in both Italy and Brazil. With over 30 years of experience in the electronic music industry, working in collaborations with a range of artists.
Before her family moved to London (UK) and Ibiza (Spain), Polly was an active participant in the Sao Paulo (Brazil), nightlife scene from 1991 to 2004. She was a promoter and resident DJ for several of the city's renowned alternative/indie clubs, including Espaço Retro, Torre, and the fashion house AmpGalaxy. Invited multiple times to DJ at D_Egde, one of the most prestigious club in South America, Polly cemented her status as a beloved figure in the indie and alternative music scene of Sao Paulo City. Her contributions to this scene were documented in Brazilian movie documentaries and MTV Brazil.
DJ Polly's style is an eclectic blend of influences, drawing inspiration from post-punk, kraut rock, Balearic beats, the groove vibes from her mentor Master DJ Andrew Waetherall, and the Brazilian old samba and Italian B-movie soundtracks. She seamlessly blends elements from these diverse sources into her sets, showcasing her deep connection to vinyl and rekordj techniques.
Polly's passion for organic house and Ibiza Balearic dark disco sounds continues to excite music lovers, showcasing the evolution of her unique style and artistic vision. Her recent sets have been inspired by the Human Design of Ibiza.
Polly has played at festivals throughout the UK, including the closing ceremony of the London Olympics in Greenwich. Her work has also appeared in a few Fashion Weeks events in Brazil and the UK.
Polly has established herself as a published author, releasing four art and poetry books in the past three years. Her artwork has been featured in a series of photos and pop art displayed by NHS England, highlighting volunteers for the COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
In addition to her DJ work, Polly is also a curator who has been actively working for new talented musicians for the past 10 years. She is part of a network of DJs specially from UK and Brazil, and has also mentored young musicians into their careers, to go on tour with their bands. Polly has developed a network of gender-neutral artists from diverse ethnic backgrounds, showcasing her dedication to promoting inclusivity in the music industry.
Polly's collaborations extend beyond music to other artistic mediums. She is currently working with the English house music producers, which some of the members are South East Londoners DB Pressure, Andy Watts, the multimedia artists / Guitarists / Ashton Moon and Andy Kosmos, and a brotherhood with DJ Tony Johns Version. Together, they formed a collective called "The Intellectricals". Her lyrical contributions can also be heard in two tracks from the Australian electronic music producer EggChan.
Polly is not only an experienced DJ but also a stylist for electronic music producer KAPP (London) since 2022. Since 2020, she has been the art curator for Vibe Cutter London and Ibiza. Polly continues to expand her artistic pursuits and collaborations in the electronic music scene, including with Bunker Dark, a DJ collective that hosts nights in the trendy borough of Dalston in London.
With her raw energy and passion for music, honed through years of DJing at skate competitions and promoting indie/grunge bands in the 90s, Polly delivers unforgettable sets that keep audiences moving all night long. Whether you're a fan of post-punk, avant-garde electronic music in cool London, or "organic house / Weatherall's vibes" under the sun light of Ibiza, Polly's DJ style has something that connects with the atmosphere which makes her in tune with her art.
